Brianna Fee and
Susie Whitsett each scored a pair of goals and Sewanee scored three times in each period in a 6-0 win against Millsaps College in women's soccer action here Friday night at Puett Field.
The Tigers (8-1-4, 3-0-0 SAA) posted a 31-0 advantage in shots in the half – 15 in the first half and 16 in the second period. Millsaps goalkeeper Emily Lozano recorded nine saves in the loss.
It didn't take long for Fee to find the back of the net, with a cross from
Caroline Pulliam bouncing off a Millsaps defender and right to Fee at the door step, with the senior burying the shot for a 1-0 edge in the eighth minute.
Lacey Carder's shot from 30 yards was saved by Lozano in the 18
th minute and she stopped a point-blank shot from
Kylene Monaghan in the 25
th minute.
The Tigers added their second goal of the match in the 28
th minute, with
Ashlyn Richards delivering a corner to the far post about 12 yards from goal. Fee headed in the shot for a 2-0 advantage.
In the 35
th minute Whitsett controlled a goal kick from Lozano just outside the box, dribbling twice to the middle before firing leftfooted into the top left corner for a 3-0 lead at intermission.
In the second half
Olivia Fee played a long ball from the left to the far post, over defenders and right into the path of Monaghan, who buried the shot low and right in the 53
rd minute.
Sonia Djurosovic slid a pass between three defenders into the path of
Samantha Ferry in the 64
th minute, with Ferry driving home the goal. Whitsett added her second goal of the match with 1:59 remaining, picking up a loose ball and shooting rightfooted this time, just over the reach of Lozano and into the net.
Sewanee travels to Rhodes College next Friday and Hendrix College next Sunday, continuing conference action.
