ATLANTA - Announced by the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) on Monday, junior outfielder
Will Yarbro was chosen by the league office as the SAA Baseball Player of the Week after his performance in the University of the South's series with Rhodes College.
This is the second Player of the Week award in four weeks for the Mountain Brook, Ala. native.
Posting a 4-of-7 weekend at the plate, Yarbro had book-end home runs in Sewanee's 8-7 win over Rhodes in the opener. After Rhodes started the game with a three-run top of the first, Yarbro responded with a 3-run homer, his first of the year, to quickly even the game back up.
In the ninth, tied at eight, Yarbro went yard again with a walk-off bomb in left-center field.
Totaling five RBI on the weekend and two runs scored, the junior also added a double for an on-base plus slugging (OPS) of 1.571.
Yarbro and the rest of the Tigers get started in the 2023 SAA Baseball Tournament with an opening round series with Centre College on Friday evening at 6 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. CT from Danville, Ky.
