ATLANTA - The Southern Athletic Association announced on Monday the weekly awards for baseball. Sophomore pitcher
Matt Munn was named the league's Pitcher of the Week after his career-performance in Sewanee's extra-inning win over Oglethorpe on Friday.
The Bellaire, Texas native tossed seven innings of five-hit, one-run ball and fanned a career-best 14 strikeouts as the Tigers rallied to defeat the Petrels in 10 innings, 2-1.
The 14 strikeouts are a career-high for the sophomore, and it is the first double-digit strikeout performance of his career. Earning the second-most strikeouts in a game since 2008, Munn missed that mark by one.
Sewanee returns to action this weekend, as the final four games of the regular season will take place at Montgomery Field. This weekend, the Tigers will welcome Rhodes College for a three-game series, starting on Saturday.
