BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of the South swimming and diving teams continued action at the 2023 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Swimming and Diving Championships, Thursday from the Birmingham CrossPlex.

TOP FEMALE PERFORMERS
-The first event of the day was the 500 freestyle, and
Mary-Louise LeMieux opened the day with a 5:11.60 victory time to advance to the final. That evening, the sophomore swam to a second-place time of 5:08.39, a career-best for the sophomore.

Rachel Little improved on her career-best in the 200 IM with a fourth-place time of 2:13.89 in the B-Cut final.
Aurelia Willett, who also qualified in the event, also swam a career-best of 2:15.40.

Audrey Francell,
Sarah Mehany,
Natalia Evans and
Riley Carswell posted a 1:41.45 in the 200 free relay, marking the second-fastest time by a Sewanee team this season.
TOP MALE PERFORMERS
-In the B-Cut final of the 50 freestyle,
George Mabry won the event with a 21.53-second sprint. His prelim time of 21.43 seconds was a career-best for the junior.
-Mabry,
Daniel Shrader, Naeem Nangum and
Korbin Smith posted a 1:31.05 in the B-Cut final of the 200 freestyle relay.

Jack Goodson led the Tigers on the diving, scoring 201.20 points on the one-meter board.
UP NEXT
On the docket for Friday at the Championships include the 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and the 400 medley relay. Diving will also continue on Friday as the women will be the first on the three-meter board after preliminary swim action. Prelims will start at 10 a.m. and the finals at 6 p.m. from the Birmingham CrossPlex.
