Corrigan, Holland Named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District ® Teams were announced on Tuesday (Feb. 21). From the University of the South men's basketball team, Tre Corrigan and Eli Holland were listed.

Formerly the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), nominations are accepted by current dues-paying CSC members. To be nominated:
  • A student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. The cumulative grade-point average may NOT be rounded up to 3.50.
  • Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form (where applicable).
  • No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and been on a college roster in that sport for two years.
Corrigan, a sophomore from Raleigh, N.C., was recently inducted into the Order of the Gown last month. He was also a member of the Dean's List during the Advent Semester. He is majoring in Economics with a Business minor.

This season, Corrigan is second in minutes per game (34.0) and assists (92), and he is third in 3-point field goals made (61). He has dropped 11.5 points per game and shot 33.0% from downtown.

Holland, a sophomore from Nashville's Hume-Fogg Magnet High School, was named to the Order of the Gown back in the Advent Semester and was also a Dean's List recipient with the college in the fall. He plans to earn a mathematics degree with a business minor from Sewanee.

Playing in all 26 games for the Purple and White off the bench as a back-up down-low, he has scored 120 points in nearly 14 minutes per game. When he gets, the ball, he literally has a 50-50 chance to score, as he knocked down 48-of-91 (52.7) from the field. He's also dished out 26 assists.

From the Southern Athletic Association, Berry College and the University of the South were listed, totaling six student-athletes.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.
