BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of the South swimming and diving teams wrap up the 2022-23 season on Saturday on the fourth and final day of the 2023 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Championships from the Birmingham CrossPlex. The Tiger women finish fifth, while the men took seventh.

CHAMPIONSHIPS RECAP
-Rhodes knocks off six-time defending champion Birmingham-Southern by edging Centre by 50.5 points. The Lynx claim their third SAA Championship (
2015-16-23).
-Birmingham-Southern cruised to its ninth consecutive SAA Championship by defeating Rhodes by 179 points.
-Former Sewanee All-American Astrid Escobar C'14 wrapped up her first year as head coach of the Berry Vikings with the SAA Men's Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year. Escobar, who was a two-time SAA champion in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke, was a two-time All-American in the 100 breaststroke and once in the 200.
TOP FEMALE PERFORMERS

Mary-Louise LeMieux adds another silver medal to her collection, as she finished second in the mile. The sophomore posted a career-best time of 17:51.89, and she improved her season-best by 23 seconds.

Audrey Francell earned second in the B-Cut final of the 100 free (54.67), while
Sarah Mehany also finished in the B-Cut final with a 55.04-second performance.

Rachel Little earned second in the B-Cut final of the 200 breaststroke as she touched the wall at 2:31.81.

Aurelia Willett took third in the B-Cut of the 200 backstroke (2:12.70) after qualifying for the final with a 2:14.45 time in the prelim. The 2:12.70 time is a season-best for the sophomore.
TOP MALE PERFORMERS

Naeem Mangum took the top spot in the B-Cut final of the 200 breaststroke. The freshman swam a 2:16.45 in the event.

George Mabry earned second in the 100 free (46.96).
