SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South and Defiance College began play on Sunday, but the "Sewanee Fog" rolled on to Montgomery Field in the bottom of the second and literally hung around all afternoon. Ultimately, due to the fog, both games of Sunday's doubleheader were canceled, and the games will not be made up.
Sewanee had a 3-0 lead before everything was halted thanks to a three-run bottom of the first.
Jack Roode scored the first run of the game, while
Wesley House scored the second.
Sully McCreery reached on an infield hit to score
Wade Sansone for the Tigers' third run.
However, all stats from this game are erased as the game is unofficial. All games must play at least 4 and a half innings for it to be official.
Sewanee will hit the road next weekend for a series with the defending Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament Champions in Birmingham-Southern, who is currently ranked seventh in the preseason D3baseball.com poll. The conference opener will take place next Satruday from the Magic City.
