Women's Swim & Dive Heads into Final Day of SAA Championships in Third; LeMieux, Mabry, Durfee Win Individual Events

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - On the fourth day of the 2022 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Swimming and Diving Championships, the University of the South women's team sits in third place entering the final session on Sunday morning, while the men are in sixth place.

TOP FEMALE PERFORMERS
-Olivia Durfee swept the diving boards with her win in the three-meter with 369.25 points. Mary Butler took second place with 338.45 points. 

-Mary Louise LeMieux claimed the top spot in the 200 freestyle with a 1:52.55 mark, besting out Mary Katherine Stewart from Birmingham-Southern by over a second. The freshman also shattered JH Chapman's C'02 record of 1:53.69, set in 1999. 

-Kate Mabry won the 100 backstroke with a 58.01-second performance. Meanwhile, her 57.53 prelim improved her school record in the event, set in 2019. Isabell Loy poste a 1:02.76 in the B-Cut final. 

-Gabby Acker posted a third place finish in the 100 breaststroke final with a 1:07.21. Élodie Cardon-Cole timed at 1:10.64, good for second place, in the B-Cut final. Sarah Mehany secured a 1:12.79 in the same final, and Elise Smith timed at 1:14.31. 

-In the 400 medley relay, Aurelia Willett, Acker, Mabry and LeMieux finished in fifth with a 4:03.83. 

-Rachel Little qualified for the B-Cut final in the 400 IM, posting a 5:08.98. In the prelims, she set a new personal best with a 5:06.96. 

-In the 200 free "B" Final, Anna Hawkins Dulaney posted a fourth-place finish of 2:01.38, while Riley Carswell recorded a 2:07.50 mark. 

-Maddy DuBois recorded a 1:01.63 in the 100 fly. Her 1:00.28 mark in the prelim is a new season-best for the freshman. 

TOP MALE PERFORMERS
-Anthony Carbone touched the wall at 1:45.07 in the 200 free final. 

-George Mabry recorded a 52.85-second performance in the 100 backstroke final for fifth place, while Patrick Eikenhorst secured a 1:07.09 mark in the B-Cut final. 

-The quartet of Mabry, Carbone, Wiley Reddick and Daniel Shrader recorded a 3:38.61 for fifth place in the 400 medley relay. 

-Christian Snead clocked in a 4:40.55 in the B-Cut final of the 400 IM, setting a season-best in the event, and Reddick posted a 4:53.16. 

-Max Peraza (1:03.71) and Shrader (1:04.19) participated in the B-Cut Final of the 100 breaststroke.

The Championships will conclude with one more finals session on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. from the Birmingham CrossPlex.
