Field Hockey Falls to Marian

Box Score Sewanee, Tenn: On Saturday, October 29th, the Sewanee Field Hockey team took on Marian in an SAA game. Sewanee tied their season high in goals, but fell to the Sabers of Marian 9-3. Maddy Thornburg had two goals, and Abbey Sohonage added a tally. 

INSIDE THE MATCH UP
Marian (6-7, 2-3 SAA) 9, Sewanee (2-11, 0-5 SAA) 3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marian got on the board first, with a goal eight minutes into the game.
- Eve Bournias fired the only Sewanee shot of the first quarter on net, but was turned away by the goalkeeper.
- After going down 2-0, Sewanee would cut the lead to 2-1 with a goal by Maddy Thornburg off of a Mimi Wilson assist.
- Marian would score as timed expired in the first half to go into the break up 3-1.
- A four goal third quarter saw Sewanee down 7-1 going into the final period.
- Sewanee would score twice in the fourth, as Thornburg added another, and Abbey Sohanage scored her second goal of the year.

- Thornburg scored her first two career goals.
- Clarie Damare registered four saves.

- Jikke Biemans scored four goals.
