Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South men's lacrosse team were unable to hold a halftime lead, as the Panthers of Birmingham-Southern College outscored the Tigers, 9-3, in the second half en route to a 13-11 win for the visitors, Friday night from historic Hardee-McGee Field at Harris Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-BSC picked up the first two goals in the contest, but the Tigers responded with two goals of their own in a 40-second span. Luke Valentine started the Sewanee scoring with 7:48 left in the opening stanza. 40 seconds later, Will Wyckoff netted the equalizer.
-Over two minutes later, Wyckoff struck the back of the cage to give the Purple and White its first lead of the night. However, the Panthers, thanks to an Ethan Richardson forced turnover, were able to even the score at three goals each at the end of the first quarter.
-The sticks came alive for Sewanee in the second period. Sewanee retook the lead as Phelps Thomas, one of our different scorers for the Tigers in the period, found Drew Mullen's pass.
-After BSC made it a 5-4 deficit with 7:23 left in the half, Sewanee dropped three straight goals to take an 8-4 halftime lead.
-The Panthers came out strong in the second half, outscoring the Tigers, 8-1 in a span of almost 20 minutes to go from a four-goal deficit to a three-goal lead, 12-9, with 5:41 left.
-Sewanee netted two goals late to make it a 12-11 contest, but a Cameron Herd goal with 1:19 left sealed the win for the visitors.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Luke Valentine and Phelps Thomas each recorded a hat trick for Sewanee in the setback.
-Jack Westfall and Will Wyckoff each added two goals.
-As a team, the Tigers won 21-of-28 face off attempts, with Andrew Perum, Alex DiNardo and Charlie Warren each winning seven. DiNardo, Warren and Joe Orem each added six ground balls.
-Hampton Brannon (1-1) stopped 11 shots in full time between the pipes.
BIRMINGHAM-SOUTHERN KEY STATISTICS
-Cameron Herd led all scorers with four goals on 11 shots. Finishing with five points thanks to an assist, he totaled seven shots on goal.
-Robert Marquet posted three goals, while Luke Fajack (4-3) recorded 17 saves in 60 minutes for BSC.
