ATLANTA - The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) released on Tuesday the postseason awards for women's soccer. Five student-athletes from the University of the South have been recognized on the All-SAA Team.
Olivia Rhodes and
Maggie O'Hare were named to the First Team, while
Nika Gorski and
Bea Richardson were honored on the Second Team.
Brianna Fee was also recognized as an Honorable Mention.
Rhodes, a junior from Friendswood, Texas, recorded six goals on the season, good for a tie for sixth in the conference. Her 24 shots on goal is tied for fourth, and her four game-winning strikes are tied for the most in the league. Additionally, she added two assists to total 14 points.
O'Hare, a sophomore from Birmingham, Ala., tallied nine points on five assists and two goals as one of Sewanee's key midfielders. Her five assists were second-best in the SAA.
Gorski secured her second All-SAA selection in her career. The senior from Weeki Wachee, Fla. tallied one assist, but she was a major part of Sewanee's defensive line. Opposing teams averaged 0.82 goals against this season, good for 11th in the region and 84th nationally out of 423 NCAA Division III schools.
Richardson collected her second All-Conference honor. The junior from Montgomery, Ala. recorded 10 points on the season thanks to five goals. Additionally, she posted a .263 shooting percentage.
Fee, a freshman from Lee's Summit, Mo., totaled three goals and assists each for nine points.
Sewanee ended the 2021 season with an 11-5-3 overall record, and they reached the finals of the SAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
