SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South field hockey team opens the postseason in Mequon, Wis. on the campus of Concordia University Wisconsin Friday in the opening round of the 2021 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Field Hockey Tournament against Transylvania University.

HEY, WE KNOW THEM: The Tigers and Pioneers will meet in the SAA Tournament for the third straight year. TU took the 2018 meeting, 2-1, off a late penalty corner. However, the Purple and White responded with a double overtime thriller, 2-1, the following year off a penalty stroke.
MOI OH MOI: Sophomore
Moira Darling leads the conference in scoring with 17 goals and 34 points. On a national level, she is tied for 21st in goals, and her 1.21 goals per game has her tied for ninth place. Additionally, her 2.43 points per game is good for 20th-best in all of Division III.
Additionally, Darling's four game-winners are tied for the most in the SAA, joining Sophie Croci of Rhodes.
GO WEST: Annie West has stepped up in the final few weeks of the season, The sophomore recorded a hat trick in Sewanee's victory over Southern Virginia on Oct. 23 and finished the day with seven points. She was named the SAA Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 25.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT: The winner of this contest will next face top-seed Centre in the semifinals on Saturday at 11 a.m. Rhodes and CUW will face off in the other semifinal game at 1 p.m.
