Box Score DEMOREST, Ga. - The Sewanee men's lacrosse team earned its first win of the new decade with a 10-8 come from behind victory over the Lions of Piedmont College on Friday night from the Walker Athletic Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-For the fourth straight game, the Tigers netted the first goal of the game thanks to a Kip McGuire goal 5:05 into the contest.
-Piedmont responded with five straight goals to push the lead to 5-1 at the halfway point of the second quarter.
-The Tigers attempted to get back in the game with back-to-back goals in nearly a minute's span. Cameron Acuff scored while the Tigers were man-up, and Jack Westfall made it a two-goal deficit, 5-3, with 4:33 left in the half.
-The Lions took the momentum into the halftime break thanks to a goal with 20 seconds remaining to extend the home team's lead to three goals, 6-3, at the break.
-Piedmont added a seventh goal at the 11:42 mark to push the lead to 7-3, but the comeback effort began for the Tigers. The visitors, led by two Daniel Burnum goals, scored the final three goals of the third period to make it a 7-6 deficit.
-Sewanee tied the contest with 12:52 left in the fourth quarter by Ryan Hofstetter before Burnum found Acuff's pass to give Sewanee the lead back for the first time since the 1-0 lead at the under-10 mark in the first quarter.
-The Lions evened the contest at eight goals each with 6:49 left, but Sewanee secured the win with goals by Acuff at 5:55 and 3:47, which was also a man-up opportunity.
-The Tigers outshot the Lions, 25-17, in the second half, 11-6 in the third quarter. Additionally, the Lions coughed up the ball 14 times in the final 30 minutes.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Cameron Acuff and Daniel Burnum both posted hat tricks. Acuff added an assist and took five shots.
-Ryan Hofstetter posted four points on three assists and a goal.
-Ollie Baugus forced three turnovers, while Drew Mullen, JoJo Fogarty and Gabe Mendoza each scooped up five ground balls.
-Charlie Warren won 7-of-14 on face offs, while Hampton Brannon (1-3) stopped 13 shots.
PIEDMONT KEY STATISTICS
-Connor Rogers led the Lions with two goals, while Chris Pannenbacker posted six ground balls.
-Zach Czulada (2-2) posted 19 saves in full time.
