Men's Golf Stands in Fifth Place Through Day One of SAA Championships

DICKSON, Tenn. - The Sewanee men's golf team will enter the second round of the 2019 Southern Athletic Association Men's Golf Championships in fifth place after 18 holes of competition Friday at the GreyStone Golf Club.

TOP PERFORMANCES
-Tommy Oliver scored a 74 for a tie for ninth place, and he is currently five strokes behind Jacob Arnett of Oglethorpe for the top spot on the leaderboard.

-Starting on the first hole, the junior bogeyed the first and fourth hole and birdied on three. However, on the back-nine, he parred eight of the nine holes.

-Nic Vandeventer carded a 78 for a tie for 22nd place, while Zach Russell scored a 79.

-Basil Boyd and Nick Powell each fired an 80, and Gray Matthews rounded out the scoring with an 81.

Sewanee will tee off in the second round of the Championships Saturday beginning at 8:51 a.m.
