Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee men's basketball team saw the Scots of Covenant College shoot 58.3% from the field in the second half, as the visitors defeated the Tigers, 71-62, on Saturday evening from Juhan Gymnasium at the final day of the Lon Varnell Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-After Joey Knox drained two free throws with 5:55 left in the opening half, Sewanee started to pull away. Trailing 22-20 at that juncture, the Tigers posted a 14-5 run to go into the locker room with a 34-27 lead.
-Pulling to a 12-point lead, 44-32 with 16:29 left in the second half, the Scots quickly erased the deficit with a 16-4 run thanks to four 3-pointers by Mitchell Hollis, including draining three straight to tie the game at 48 points each.
-After Sewanee reclaimed the lead on a triple by Sean McDonough, the Scots put the game away on a 16-2 run in an eight-minute span.
-Outscoring Sewanee 44-28 in the final 20 minutes, Covenant posted a 14-of-24 mark from the field (58.3%), 6-of-10 from 3-point range. The Scots limited the home team to 10-of-27 from the field (37.0%), 1-of-8 from downtown.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Joey Knox led Sewanee with 18 points in the contest, while Ryan Starr posted 14 points and three steals.
-Adrian Thomas finished the game with 12 points and nine rebounds.
COVENANT KEY STATISTICS
-Mitchell Hollis led the Scots with 29 points on 10-of-14 shooting and 6-of-8 from downtown.

The Tigers are back in action next weekend at the Birmingham-Southern Black Tie Classic. Sewanee will face LaGrange on Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. from Bill Battle Coliseum.
