Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee baseball team saw their 7-5 ninth inning lead erased to an 8-7 defeat on Sunday afternoon from Montgomery Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Centre got the bats going in the first two innings, with identical two-run frames.
-Sewanee dented the scoreboard in the bottom of the second via a Tyler Dunbar sacrifice fly to score Trey Akins.
-Jake Woolard followed suit with a double to cut the deficit to two runs, 4-2.
-In the bottom of the fourth, Akins came home on a Dunbar fielder's choice.
-Centre got a run back in the fifth before Sewanee responded in the bottom half of the inning. Akins brought home Josh Roberts.
-Trailing 5-4 going into the bottom of the sixth inning sparked a huge rally for the home team. Jake Woolard brought home Drew Mancuso on a sacrifice fly.
-Bryce Benedict followed with an RBI double, scoring Dunbar to give to Purple and Gold the first lead of the game. Roberts followed with a sac fly to score Benedict to push the lead to two runs, 7-5, headed into the late innings.
-The Colonels used a key ninth inning rally, scoring three runs to retake the lead. Will Kirk gave the team the advantage with a two-run double.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Riley Brandvold, Trey Akins and Tyler Dunbar each tallied two hits for Sewanee.
-Dunbar and Jake Woolard each drove in two runs.
-Harrison Lee started for Sewanee and allowed two earned runs in the opening frame.
-Will Collins allowed one unearned run on two hits in three relief innings.
-Zach Brodsky (0-1) suffered the loss for the Tigers.
CENTRE KEY STATISTICS
-Will Kirk finished the day 4-for-5 with two runs, stolen bases and RBI each.
-Sam Shelley allowed one earned run on four hits in four innings pitched as Centre's starter.
-Chris Esselman (1-1) allowed one hit in the eighth inning and earned the win in relief.
