Box Score 2 SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee baseball team earned a series win over the Warriors of Hendrix College, splitting Saturday's doubleheader with a 3-2 win before falling 8-3 in the finale from Montgomery Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 1
-In a true pitcher's duel, Hendrix scored the first run of the contest in the second on an RBI single.
-The Tigers' response in the fifth came in a big way. Leading off the inning, Jake Woolard went into launch mode with a solo shot to even the score at a run apiece.
-After back-to-back strikeouts, Riley Brandvold shot a double, and Derek Hullings gave the Tigers the lead on an RBI single to score Brandvold.
-Sewanee tacked on a key insurance run in the sixth via a bases loaded walk by Jack Galanek.
-The visitors chipped away at the lead with an RBI in the seventh, but the Warriors stranded a runner in the eight before a 1-2-3 ninth inning to secure the series.
HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 2
-The Warriors came out swinging and running to start game two. On the third pitch of the contest, Jorge Leon launched a dinger to open the scoring.
-Drew Judson reached base in the first on a walk as the next batter.
-After a foul out and a balk to move him to second, Judson later moved to third on a stolen base.
-During Layton Burge's at-bat, Judson stole home to score the second run of the inning.
-Sewanee answered in the bottom half of the opening inning. After Derek Hullings and Jared Demkowicz started the frame with back-to-back singles, Chris McNulty scored Hullings with an RBI single.
-Demkowicz scored on Trey Akins' double play to even the score at two runs each.
-In the fourth, the bats came alive for the Warriors thanks to back-to-back home runs by Ford Sherrington and Noah Gilbert to break the 2-2 tie.
-The Warriors made it 5-2 later in the inning with an RBI single.
-Sewanee made it a 5-3 contest with a Drew Mancuso homer in the bottom half of the fourth inning.
-Hendrix added two runs in the sixth and the seventh to seal the contest.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Jake Woolard went 2-for-4 with the homer and an RBI in game one.
-Riley Brandvold also laced two hits in the afternoon session with a run scored.
-Drew Mancuso and Jared Demkowicz each recorded two hits in the series finale.
-Justin Lavender (2-2) struck out four men while allowed seven hits and two earned runs in game one, while Jackson Cook (1) notched the save with a clean ninth inning with two punchouts.
-Will Collins (0-3) allowed three runs on three hits without recording an out in the series finale.
HENDRIX KEY STATISTICS
-Layton Burge went 2-for-3 in game one, driving in both runs.
-Noah Gilbert launched two homers in the contest, while Jorge Leon went 2-for-4 with a homer.
-Drew Judson, who tallied his 200th career hit in the sixth inning, scored twice and stole three bases.
-Hayden Seay (0-3) allowed two earned on five hits, striking out five in 4.2 innings in the opener.
-Evan Ingram (3-2) went the distance, allowing three earned runs on 10 hits.
