Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. - Sewanee baseball's four-game winning streak came to an end on Saturday, as Birmingham-Southern took the opener of a three-game, Southern Athletic Association, series 7-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-After getting the first two outs to start the game, the Panthers stringed together four straight hits and three runs to lead 3-0 after a half of an inning.
-Sewanee got on the board in the bottom of the third with a RBI double by Jared Demkowicz, bringing home Bryce Benedict, who led off the inning with a single.
-The Panthers added runs in the fifth and sixth to push the lead to 5-1, but the Tigers got the deficit to two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Chris McNulty led off the frame by reaching base on an error.
-Trey Akins doubled McNulty home, and Josh Roberts reached base on a fielder's choice to put runners at the corners.
-Akins made the score 5-3 when he came home on a double play.
-BSC responded in the seventh with a two-run homer by Will Toner to make it 7-3.
-McNulty would make it 7-4 with a solo shot to right center, his second of the year, but that would be as close as Sewanee would get.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Riley Brandvold and Jake Woolard each recorded two hits for the Tigers, with one of their two hit a two-bagger.
-Chris McNulty, who launched a homer, scored twice in the contest.
-Drew Mancuso (1-3) tossed seven innings for the Tigers, allowing seven earned on 12 hits and striking out three.
BIRMINGHAM-SOUTHERN KEY STATISTICS
-Will Evans and Will Toner each went 4-for-5 on the day to lead the visitors. Toner added four RBI and two runs scored, while Evans scored three times.
-Jake Cook (5-1) went the distance, allowing nine hits and two earned runs, while striking out five.

Sewanee will wrap up the series with Birmingham-Southern on Sunday with a noon doubleheader.
