Box Score SALEM, Va. - The Sewanee men's lacrosse team suffered defeat to the 18th-ranked team in the country, Roanoke, 23-5 on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Tigers got the offense going 1:10 into the period with a Cameron Acuff goal from Thomas Lynde.
-The Maroons responded with the final three goals in the quarter and the first two in the quarter to lead 5-1 with 10:21 left in the period.
-50 seconds later, Sewanee got the deficit to three with a Jimmy Parker from Lynde.
-With 8:14 left in the second, Acuff found Hayden Hunt's pass with his second goal of the game and a 5-3 deficit.
-Roanoke responded with three of the next four goals in the period to lead 8-4 at half.
-The second half was all Maroons with a 15-1 second half.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Cameron Acuff led the Tigers with a hat trick in the contest.
-Wil Friedman collected six grounders, while Alex DiNardo tallied five.
-Thomas Lynde notched two assists.
-Sewanee won 18 of the 32 faceoffs, but 20 turnovers and 32 total shots for the Tigers were too much for the Maroons.
-Bryce Womack (1-2) played 49 minutes in goal and saved 13 shots.
ROANOKE KEY STATISTICS
-Jason Sarro led the Maroons with four goals.
-Ian Davies (2-0) saved 10 shots in the cage in 50 minutes.
-Roanoke is ranked 18th in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Poll.
