First Half Goal Enough as Field Hockey Defeats Transylvania

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee field hockey team used a 12th-minute goal and strong defense to defeat the Pioneers of Transylvania, 1-0, Sunday evening from Puett Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-In the 13th minute, after Milly Etheridge took a penalty corner, she was set for Ceara Caffrey's pass to score what would be the lone goal of the contest.

-In the second half, the Tigers held the Pioneers to just one shot and two penalty corners as the visitors were held scoreless for 70 minutes.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Milly Etheridge struck for the lone goal on five shots, three on goal.

-Ceara Caffrey recorded the assist, and also took two shots.

-Rachel Blum (3-2) saved four shots for the clean sheet.

TRANSYLVANIA KEY STATISTICS
-Caroline Patrick recorded three shots, two on goal, to lead the Pioneers.

-Allyson Benz (1-10) saved eight shots in full time.
