HOW IT HAPPENED
-Sewanee trailed from the beginning of the contest, but with 6:35 left in the first half, Taylor Howell drained a three-pointer to give the Tigers the 18-15 advantage.

-The Petrels shot 13-of-29 (45 percent) from the first half, and limiting the Tigers to 35 percent shooting (10-of-29) from the floor.

-However, the Tigers made sure to rebound the ball and collect second chance opportunities. In the game, the visitors out-rebounded OU 49-42, including 10-3 on the offensive glass. On second chance points, the Tigers shut out the Petrels, 9-0.

-To start the second half, Chris Lawrence drained a shot from beyond the arc to push the Sewanee deficit to eight points, 34-26, but the Tigers went on a 7-1 run to cut the deficit to one possession, 35-32 with 15:49 left.

-With 9:35 left in regulation, trailing by six points, Sewanee pushed on another run, and with 6:33 left, a Hunter Buescher jumper from downtown gave the Tigers the first lead of the game, 49-48.

-Oglethorpe swung the contest back in their favor, but with 1:49 to go, Luke Smith drained a three-pointer to tie the contest at 54.

-After a missed shot by OU, Buescher was fouled and sank both free throws to give Sewanee the lead again, 56-54 with 1:09 left.

-With 11 seconds to go, a layup by Lane Foster of the home team forced the contest into overtime.

-In the extra period, the Tigers were unable to capitalize on key chances. After a Buescher layup with 33 seconds left and trailing by three points, 63-60, the Tigers fouled on the next possession, forcing a 1-and-1 opportunity.

-The strategy worked for the Tigers, as Foster missed the front end of the free throw opportunity. However, the Purple and Gold could not put points on the board on their next trip down the court as they attempted a three-pointer.

-After another Sewanee foul, and another 1-and-1 opportunity for the Petrels, Chris Lawrence also missed the front end of the 1-and-1, which gave the Tigers the ball with 12 seconds left. Once again, the Tigers could not capitalize on another three-point attempt.

-The Tigers fouled again, but that was the 10th team foul of the half/overtime periods, and Lawrence sank both free throws to seal the game for Oglethorpe.
