Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee women's soccer team, tied at one at the half, rallied to defeat Oglethorpe, 2-1, Saturday evening at Puett Field in a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) matchup.
The Tigers (4-5-1, 2-0-0) got on the board right away in the fifth minute, as Walker Poe found Kiley Ezzell's pass for her third goal of the season.
Oglethorpe (3-6-0, 0-2-0) found the goal in the 35th minute, as Kayla Trice netted her first of the year after Sewanee attempted a high shot a minute prior. The match was tied up at one goal apiece at the half.
In the second half, Mary "Sissy" Frank broke away from the Oglethorpe defenders, and in the 76th minute, Frank found the back of the net for her second goal of the year.
For the match, the Tigers outshot the Stormy Petrels, 18-10.
Savannah Williams (2-0) saved five shots while playing all 90 minutes in goal.
The Tigers will head back on the road for the first time in over three weeks next Friday, when Sewanee travels to Birmingham-Southern. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
