Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (Sept. 4, 2016) – Three second-half goals proved to be the difference as host Wittenberg earned a 4-2 win over the Sewanee field hockey team, Sunday, at Edwards-Maurer Field.
The loss dropped Sewanee to 1-1 after the Tigers' opening weekend.
After Wittenberg netted the first goal early in the opening half, Sewanee answered back with two scores before halftime.
In the 17th minute, Monica Bueso scored an unassisted goal that tied the match at 1-1. Then with only four minutes to play before the break, junior Sarah Barry scored off an assist from freshman Ceara Caffrey.
Unfortunately, Wittenberg answered back with second-half goals from Riley Trexler and Blaine Donnelly.
Overall, Wittenberg outshot the Tigers 24-9. That included 15 shots on goal by Wittenberg to go along with nine corners.
Sewanee returns to action by hosting Earlham next Saturday at Puett Field.
