Box Score FERRUM, Va. (Sept. 18, 2016) – Despite outshooting Southern Athletic Association (SAA) member Ferrum, 20-5, the Sewanee field hockey team dropped a 2-1 match, Sunday.
The Panthers finished with only three shots on goal, however, two of the three attempts scored. Sewanee did manage eight shots on goal, however, Ferrum keeper Courtney Gosslin finished with seven saves.
The host Panthers led early after Alexandra Madden scored off an assist from Kasey Sheets. After Sewanee tied the contest when Emily Sloan tapped in a pass from Carrie Anderson, Ferrum's Sierra Magdeleno scored the game-winner in the 68th minute.
After two road games this weekend, Sewanee returns to Puett Field for a 2:00 p.m. contest against rival Rhodes, Friday.
