Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Sept. 10, 2016) – A goal by Sarah Barry and Ceara Caffrey was the difference Saturday, as the Sewanee field hockey team defeated visiting Earlham, 2-1, at Puett Field.
After taking nine shots, Sewanee finally broke the scoreless tie when Caffrey tipped home a rebound shot by Luna Goodale that bounced off Earlham keeper Kudzai Mushongahande's pad.
The Tigers quickly made the score 2-0 early in the second half as Barry raced past an Earlham defender and into the circle. While dribbling, Barry fired a shot into the back of the cage.
Earlham's lone goal came 20 minutes later as Meaite Turlings scored after a Quaker timeout.
Overall, the Tigers dominated possession with an 18-4 advantage in shots. Sewanee also finished with 12 corners while Earlham had three.
The Tigers continue their homestand with a 1:30 p.m. match against Lindenwood, Sunday.
