Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (April 8, 2016) – With a 17-2 win over Southern Athletic Association (SAA) member Hendrix Friday night at historic Hardee-McGee Field at Harris Stadium, the Sewanee men's lacrosse team clinched its third straight SAA Regular Season Championship.
The Tigers enter their final regular season game on Sunday against rival Rhodes with a 9-3 overall record and a perfect 6-0 record in conference play. With Centre's win over the Lynx Friday, Sewanee wrapped up the regular season title.
Additionally, Sewanee will host the SAA Tournament semifinals and championship match on April 22nd and 24th.
The Tigers opened Friday's match with seven goals in the first, three in the second and third, and four in the fourth quarter. Hendrix scored both its goals in the third.
A physical match throughout, Sewanee outshot the Warriors 61-14 and led in groundballs, clears, and faceoffs.
Individually, Robbie Berndt paced the offense with five goals on 12 shots. Freshman Hayden Hunt, Jake Chintz, Will Pratt, Brooks Young, and Jimmy Parker each had two goals while Peter Brown and Pat DiMento finished with one score.
Defensively, 12 different players had caused turnovers led by Matt McJunkin, Joe Randazzo, and Ben Griffin, who each had two.
Finally, Cason Liles, Ryan Stubits, and Wil Friedman combined to go 19-of-22 on faceoffs.
