Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (April 10, 2016) – After a slow start, the Sewanee men's lacrosse team rolled over Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Rhodes 15-6, Sunday, at historic Hardee-McGee Field at Harris Stadium.
The Tigers have now won seven straight matches and are now 10-3 overall. More importantly, Sewanee ends the regular season with a perfect 7-0 conference record. Additionally, the Tigers have not lost a home match since the 2014 SAA Tournament against Centre.
Sewanee earned a bye into the SAA Tournament semifinals which the Tigers will host April 22.
Despite early goals by Jake Chintz and Peter Brown, the Tigers were down 3-2 by the end the first quarter.
However, over the next 45 minutes, Sewanee outscored the Lynx, 13-3.
During that stretch, Robbie Berndt, Pat DiMento, Hayden Hunt, Jimmy Parker, Wil Rainer, Peter Brown, and Cotter Brown all scored.
Overall, Sewanee outshot the Lynx 50-27. The Tigers also had more groundballs, caused turnovers, and faceoff wins.
Individually, Berndt paced the offense with four goals. Hunt added three goals and an assist while Peter Brown and DiMento each finished with two goals.
On defense, Cotter Brown had two caused turnovers while keeper Selby Austin added four saves.
Attackman Ryan Fennelly led Rhodes with three goals on six shots.
