Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (March 28, 2016) – Regional-rival Covenant scored early and often en route to a 17-8 win over the Sewanee baseball team, Monday, at historic Montgomery Field.
The visiting Scots scored four runs in the first, one in the second, and then broke open the game in the top of the fourth with nine runs. Covenant then added two runs in the fifth and one in the ninth.
Sewanee also played well offensively with eight runs on 13 hits. Cather Ryan Poole led the Tigers with three hits while Beau Allen, Jackson Cooper, and Kyle Schnell each had two.
Covenant was led at the plate by leadoff hitter Luke Harvey. The Scots center fielder finished 4-for-5 with three runs scored and multiple RBI.
On the mound, Covenant reliever Drew Bradley earned the win after he gave up a run and four hits while striking out three in 4.2 innings.
Sewanee returns to action with a three-game series at Millsaps this weekend.
