Despite leading in multiple matches, Sewanee falls at old rival No. 45 Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 28, 2016) – Despite leading in multiple matches, the No. 29 Sewanee men's tennis team dropped a 5-0 match at No. 45 NCAA Division I ranked Vanderbilt, Sunday, at the Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Tennis Center.

The Tigers are now 4-3 overall with all three losses against NCAA Division I programs Vanderbilt, UT-Chattanooga, and Middle Tennessee State University.

Vanderbilt opened by winning at No. 3 and No. 2 doubles. At No. 1 doubles, No. 2 ranked Eric Roddy and Jack Gray were in a close match against Rhys Johnson and Cameron Klinger at 6-5 when the match was called unfinished.

As singles play got underway, Vanderbilt earned straight-set wins at No. 5, No. 2, and No. 4.

At No. 1 singles, junior Avery Schober was leading No. 64 ranked Daniel Valent after taking the first set 6-4. At the same time, Connor Winkler was in a close match, 6-5, against Alex Ross at No. 6.
