Schroerlucke and Khan earn major honors as Tigers garner five SAA All-Conference honors

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Samuel Schroerlucke was named the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Men's Tennis Rookie of the Year, and the Sewanee coaching staff, led by Hamza Khan, earned SAA Coaching Staff of the Year honors, as the Tigers placed four athletes on the Singles All-SAA Teams and two doubles teams on the All-Conference listing. 

Schroerlucke was named to the doubles First-Team All-SAA with partner Andre-Remi Jakobi, as the duo was 6-1 in conference play at the No. 1 spot. They were 15-3 on the season and are currently ranked third in the Atlantic South region. 

Head Coach Hamza Khan, in his first season as head coach, guided the Tigers to their 12th SAA title, along with assistant coaches Doug Maynard and Zulay Castañeda. 

Jakobi also earned First-Team honors in singles, playing at the No. 1 singles spot for the Tigers. 

Schroerlucke also garnered Second Team honors in singles, as the freshman primarily played at the No. 3 spot for Sewanee and was 4-1 in conference play. 

Joining Schroerlucke on the Second Team for singles are Henry Hyden and Ben Lammert

Hyden was 3-2 in conference play, primarily at the No. 2 spot, and was 3-1 at line two, and is 13-4 on the season. Hyden was also named to the SAA All-Sportsmanship team. 

Lammert garnered Second-Team honors for both singles and doubles. In singles, he was 3-1 in conference play and is 10-2 on the season. 

Drew Rukivina and Lammert were named Second-Team All-SAA for doubles, as the duo was 4-1 in conference play at No. 2 and is 10-4 on the year. 

The Tigers enter the SAA Tournament as the No. 1 seed and will play the winner of the No. 4 Rhodes versus No. 5 Berry in the semifinals on Saturday, April 25 at 9 a.m. CT at the Leftwich Tennis Center in Memphis, Tenn.
