Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 9, 2016) – The Sewanee women's soccer team controlled the pace and flow of the game well Sunday, as the Tigers stayed unbeaten in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play with a 2-0 win over Birmingham-Southern, Sunday, at Puett Field.
The Tigers are now 7-6-1 overall and a perfect 4-0-0 in league play. Sewanee has not lost a regular season SAA match in over two years after going 6-0-1 in 2015.
After multiple early shots, Sewanee finally found the back of the net when Tyler Edell redirected a pass from Mary "Sissy" Frank in the 34th minute. From there, Sewanee stayed aggressive scoring again only three minutes later when Savannah Williams headed in a corner kick from Katie Morrison.
Overall, Sewanee outshot BSC 20-7. The Tigers also had a 7-0 advantage in corners.
Individually, Martha Dinwiddie led the attack with four shots while Frank, Katie Morrison, Nikki Johnston, Williams, and Edell also had multiple attempts.
Sewanee returns to action with a key 4:00 p.m. road match at Rhodes next Friday.
