Tigers dominate Birmingham-Southern for a 2-0 win

Box Score

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 9, 2016)  The Sewanee women's soccer team controlled the pace and flow of the game well Sunday, as the Tigers stayed unbeaten in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play with a 2-0 win over Birmingham-Southern, Sunday, at Puett Field.

The Tigers are now 7-6-1 overall and a perfect 4-0-0 in league play. Sewanee has not lost a regular season SAA match in over two years after going 6-0-1 in 2015.

After multiple early shots, Sewanee finally found the back of the net when Tyler Edell redirected a pass from Mary "Sissy" Frank in the 34th minute. From there, Sewanee stayed aggressive scoring again only three minutes later when Savannah Williams headed in a corner kick from Katie Morrison.

Overall, Sewanee outshot BSC 20-7. The Tigers also had a 7-0 advantage in corners.

Individually, Martha Dinwiddie led the attack with four shots while Frank, Katie Morrison, Nikki Johnston, Williams, and Edell also had multiple attempts.

Sewanee returns to action with a key 4:00 p.m. road match at Rhodes next Friday.
