Box Score CONWAY, Ark. (April 10, 2015) – An 8-0 run in the third and fourth periods helped the Sewanee men's lacrosse team to a 15-7 victory at Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Hendrix, Friday night at Warrior Field.
The Tigers are now 8-3 overall and 4-1 in league play. Sewanee will head into Sunday's regular season finale with a small lead in the three-team conference standing tie for first place. The Tigers are just ahead of Berry and Centre due to Sewanee's goals allowed margin.
After Hendrix took an early 3-0 lead, Sewanee got on the board when Jimmy Parker scored off an assist from George Bukawyn.
The Warriors would score once more before the Tigers closed the first with three straight goals. Robbie Berndt scored twice while Baylor Koch notched one goal with 2:45 left.
The Tigers and Warriors would then each score three times in the second. Sewanee's goals came from Berndt, Bukawyn, and Koch.
With the score tied at 7-7 entering the third, Sewanee took over. The Tigers finished with a 13-0 shot advantage in the third and a 9-1 shot margin in the fourth.
That led to goals by Bukawyn, Berndt, Peter Brown, Tyler Calnan, Hayden Byrd, and Koch.
On defense, Sewanee finished with 14 caused turnovers while Selby Austin added seven saves.
Berndt finished with five goals and two assists to go along with 13 shots. Koch and Bukawyn also played well with three goals each.
Attackman Robbie Borrello led Hendrix on offense with three goals and two assists.
Sewanee returns to action with a noon match at rival Rhodes, Friday.
