Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. (March 18, 2015) – Behind an outstanding defensive performance, No. 14 Washington & Lee outlasted the Sewanee men's lacrosse team, 7-2, Wednesday at historic Wilson Field.
The Tigers are now 4-2 overall while the host Generals improved to 6-2.
W&L jumped out quickly as Cam Lewis and Tyler Goldman gave the Blue and White an early 2-0 lead with less than two minutes off the clock.
Sewanee responded as George Bukawyn ripped in a shot from Robbie Berndt with 10:59 left in the first.
Unfortunately, W&L would score two more times in the first as Joe Perrella and Max Hutson netted goals.
Behind a goal from Lewis and Hutson in the second, the Generals extended their advantage to 5-1 by halftime.
The Generals would score two more times in the second half before Berndt gave the Tigers their final goal off a pass from Jake Pesetsky.
In goal, sophomore Selby Austin finished with 14 saves in 60:00 minutes inside the pipes.
Sewanee returns to action with a 3:00 p.m. match at historic Hardee-McGee Field at Harris Stadium against DePauw, Saturday.
