Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 9, 2015) – After nearly an hour weather delay, the Sewanee women's soccer team would not be stopped as the Kiley Ezzell scored a game-winning goal in overtime to push the Tigers past rival Rhodes, 2-1, on a wet Friday night at Puett Field.
Ezzell took two dribbles off a great pass from teammate Katie Morrison and ripped home the shot past a diving Rhodes keeper.
The match headed into the extra period after Sewanee had a number of close shots that were blocked or saved in the second half.
Overall, the Tigers outshot Rhodes 17-6, which included an 11-2 advantage the final regulation period.
Rhodes scored the first goal of the contest as Sydnie Schindler deflected a shot from teammate Emma Selner.
Sewanee tied the contest at 1-1 late in the first half as Erin Gill scored in the 32nd minute.
Only minutes into the second half, both teams were forced to clear the field due to lightning in the area. That set up the delay.
Despite battling wet conditions, Sewanee keeper Olivia Glascoe finished with four saves. Gill led the Tigers' attack with a career-high seven shots.
Sewanee extended its unbeaten streak to six straight matches. The Tigers will look to continue their streak with a noon match against Hendrix, Sunday.
