Box Score DANVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 3, 2015) – Three goals by Julie Gates helped Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Centre to a 3-1 victory over the Sewanee field hockey team, Saturday.
The loss was the first for the Tigers this fall. Sewanee is now 6-1 overall and 2-1 in SAA action. The home Colonels improved to 5-3 overall and 4-0 in league play.
Gates netted goals early in the first half and then scored twice during a seven-minute stretch midway through the second half.
Sewanee's lone goal came in the 54th minute as Catherine Estes scored off an assist from Emma Horgan.
Katie Wilson led Sewanee in shots with three while keeper Katya Waters finished with one save.
Gates finished with three goals, seven shots, with four attempts being on-goal.
Sewanee returns to action with a 4:00 p.m. contest against Randolph-Macon, Monday.
