Box Score JACKSON, Miss. (Oct. 16, 2015) – A hat trick by freshman Kaylee Pierson helped lead the Sewanee women's soccer team to a 6-1 win at Millsaps, Friday, at Harper Davis Field.
The Tigers are now 8-3-2 overall and 4-0-1 in SAA play. Sewanee extended both its unbeaten streak, now at eight straight matches, and its six-match winning streak.
Sewanee wasted little time on the attack, as Pierson ripped in a rebound shot in the fourth minute.
Later in the half, Erin Gill scored off an assist from Nikki Johnston. Four minutes later Pierson scored again as Gill had the assist.
Sewanee continued to roll in the final 45 minutes. In the 51st minute Olivia O'Brien netted her first goal of the season off an impressive pass from Kiley Ezzell.
As play continued, Pierson capped off her hat trick with her third goal of the night in the 65th minute.
Freshman Dayla LaRocque then extended the Tigers' lead to 6-0 off an assist from classmate Callie Ruf.
Millsaps got on the board late in the match, as Lindy Robichaux scored in the 84th minute.
Overall, Sewanee dominated the statistics. Sewanee finished with 24 shots and five corners.
Individually, 10 Sewanee players finished with shots. Robichaux paced the Majors with four attempts.
The Tigers will look to keep their strong play going with a noon match at Birmingham-Southern, Sunday.
