Box Score ASHLAND, Va. (Sept. 20, 2014) – Host Randolph-Macon scored 20 unanswered points to earn a 34-20 victory over the Sewanee football team, Saturday, at Day Field.
Trailing midway through the third quarter, Randolph-Macon set up its comeback when Deshaun Rogers took a kickoff back 54 yards to the Sewanee 28-yard line.
Four plays later, RM quarterback Zac Naccarato found the endzone from 12-yards out.
After holding Sewanee to a three-and-out on the Tigers' next possession, the Yellow Jackets scored again when Naccarato capped off a six-play, 44-yard drive to end the third quarter.
Randolph-Macon added one final late touchdown, when Jordan Byrd found the endzone with 3:14 to play.
Sewanee got on the board early, when Callum Wishart connected on a 39-yard field goal midway through the first quarter.
The Tigers then took a 10-0 lead when Cody Daniel capped off a eight-play, 46-yard drive in the on Sewanee's next possession.
After RM scored its first touchdown on a 15-yard pass from Naccarato, Sewanee responded with another field goal by Wishart right before the half.
Down 14-13 early in the second half, Daniel gave the Tigers' their final lead when the junior signal caller dashed 46 yards for his second touchdown.
Overall, Sewanee finished with 308 total yards, including 252 yards on the ground.
Daniel led the offense with a career-high 165 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
On defense, freshman safety Glenn Ireland finished with a career-high 11 tackles and one pass breakup. Alex Kops also added seven stops while De'Nard Ford pitched in four tackles and one interception.
Byrd finished the day for Randolph-Macon with 110 rushing yards on 24 attempts. Additionally, Naccarato added 119 passing yards and two touchdowns.
Sewanee continues its season with a 1:00 p.m. contest against Emory & Henry next Saturday at historic Hardee-McGee Field at Harris Stadium.
