No. 7 Emory hands Sewanee its first Division III loss for the season

ATLANTA (Sept. 19, 2014) – No. 7 ranked Emory handed the Sewanee women's soccer team its first NCAA Division III loss of the season, as the Eagles topped the Tigers, 4-0, Sunday, at the Woodruff P.E. Center.

Sewanee, who dropped to 4-2 overall, had previously loss to NCAA Division II member Trevecca.

Emory scored twice in the first half and then added two more goals in the final 45 minutes.

The nationally-ranked Eagles finished with a 23-7 shot advantage. Emory also added 12 corner kicks to Sewanee's one.

Individually, forward Shelby Meckstroth was held pointless for the first time this season. Despite not scoring or having an assist, Meckstroth did finish with a team-leading three shots.

Sewanee will now return to action with 3:30 p.m. home match against Tennessee Temple, Saturday.
