Poor attack hinders Sewanee against Covenant

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Aug. 30, 2014) – The Sewanee volleyball team lost a 3-0 match against regional-rival Covenant, Saturday, at the MckAttack Classic on the campus of Birmingham-Southern.

Sewanee lost the contest 25-13, 25-12, 25-19.

Despite a .207 hitting percentage during the second set, Sewanee could not overcome Covenant's .344 attack.

In the other two sets, Sewanee had only 14 kills on 85 combined attacks.

Individually, senior Jamie Sue Wilson finished with eight kills while Sara Jayne Sutton added 18 digs.

Senior Rachel Schuman was the only other Tiger that reached double digits with 13 assists.

Sewanee also took on LaGrange College on Saturday, however the Tigers' result is unknown at this time.

Sewanee continues the season next Friday with its first two home matches. The Tigers will host Brescia and LaGrange inside Juhan Gymnasium at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
