Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (April 6, 2014) – Behind a stellar pitching performance by starter Stephen Shunk, Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Centre earned a 10-0 win against the Sewanee baseball team, Sunday, at Montgomery Field.
The victory in the rubber game gave the Colonels a 2-1 series win.
Shunk earned his first victory of the season, after he limited the Tigers to three hits while striking out six in the complete game shutout.
The Colonel sophomore was helped by his teammates at the plate. Centre drove in 10 runs on nine hits, which included eight RBI and two doubles.
Sewanee starter Charles Warren was tagged with the loss, after he gave up six runs on seven hits in 4.0 innings of work.
Offensively Michael Walker, Ben Clune, and Nate Barnett each finished with one hit.
The Tigers will briefly step outside SAA play with a 2:00 p.m. non-conference game against Rust, Thursday.
