Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (April 18, 2014) – Southern Athletic Association (SAA) member Hendrix opened its final conference regular season series with a 7-3 win over the Sewanee baseball team, Friday, at Montgomery Field.
The Tigers drop their overall record to 11-23 overall and 1-18 in conference play. Hendrix improved its record to 21-15 overall and 11-8 in league competition.
Hendrix got on the board first when Ryan Ritz scored on a Brady Newville RBI single. Unfortunately, Ritz moved into scoring position after a pair of wild pitches.
The Warriors would then added three runs in the top of the fourth and another run an inning later.
Down 5-0, Sewanee rallied back in the bottom of the sixth. After Nate Barnett led-off with a single, Zack Sutton walked. Michael Walker then tripled in both runners.
Ben Clune then reached on another walk two batters later. Walker then scored on an RBI groundout by Ryan Poole.
Unfortunately, Hendrix answered back with runs the next two innings.
Overall, Barnett and Sutton each finished with two hits and a run scored. On the mound Mike O'Neil was charged with the loss after he allowed five runs on six hits while striking out two in 5.0 innings.
Hendrix starter Will Nichol earned the win after allowed three runs on five hits in 6.0 innings of work.
Sewanee and Hendrix will conclude their series with a doubleheader, Saturday.
