No. 16 Rhodes completes sweep of Sewanee

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (March 30, 2014) – Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival No. 16 Rhodes completed a three-game sweep of the Sewanee baseball team after a 6-2 win Sunday at Staufer Field.

The Tigers led early after Gus Myer singled in Jack Whaley in the top of the first.

Sewanee stayed on top until the bottom of the fifth when Rhodes scored four runs on four hits.

The Tigers responded an inning later when Jackson Cooper scored after a Lynx fielding error.

Rhodes answered back with a runs in the bottom of the inning and then again in the eighth.

Lynx starter Daniel Morris struck out seven batters in 5.2 innings of work while allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits.

Charles Warren was tagged with the loss, after the Tiger starter allowed five runs (one earned) in 5.1 innings.

At the plate, Whaley finished 3-for-4 with a one scored while Copper added two hits.

Sewanee will take a quick break from league play for a 2:00 p.m. doubleheader at Covenant, Wednesday.
