Box Score WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (March 22, 2014) – The Sewanee baseball team closed out its spring break trip at the RussMatt Invitational with a 13-3 win over Bard, Saturday.
The victory propelled the Tigers' overall record to 8-12.
After not scoring in the first inning, Sewanee responded with three runs in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth, and one in the fifth. Ahead 7-2, the Tigers plated four more runs in the seventh and two in the ninth.
As a team, Sewanee finished with 18 hits, 12 RBI, three doubles, and a triple by Zack Sutton.
Individually, Jack Rogers finished 4-of-5 with three runs scored. Michael Walker added a 4-for-6 performance with three RBI and two runs scored.
Jackson Cooper and Alex Mockett also finished with two hits while Ryan Poole, Nate Barnett, Grant Goodson and Ben Clune all added at least one RBI.
On the mound starter Charles Warren won his third game of the season, after he limited Bard to two runs on seven hits in 5.0 innings.
Relievers Ben Harrison, Charlie Morrow, and Kevin Wisner combined to strike out four while allowing only one run over the final four innings.
Sewanee returns to Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play with a three-game series at Rhodes beginning March 29.
