Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (March 2, 2014) – A seven-run sixth inning helped No. 24 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Birmingham-Southern to a 10-0 win Sunday over the Sewanee baseball team at Montgomery Field.
The Panthers scored single runs in the top of the third and fourth, before 11 batters came to the plate in the top of the sixth. In that inning, BSC scored seven runs on six hits.
An inning later, Birmingham-Southern scored again as Mason Tritt homered to start the top of the seventh.
On the mound, BSC starter Ralls Pennington earned the win after allowing no runs and five hits while striking out three in 6.0 innings of work.
As a team, the Panthers pounded out 12 hits while the Tigers finished with five.
Nate Barnett and Chris Erdmier, who both finished 2-for-3 at the plate, led Sewanee.
Sewanee continues SAA play with a three-game series against Berry beginning next Saturday on the Domain.
