Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Feb. 7, 2014) – A late second half rally helped Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Berry to a 63-57 win over the Sewanee men's basketball team, Friday, inside Juhan Gymnasium.
Down by 14, with 12:28 remaining, the Vikings outscored the Tigers 32-12 down the stretch.
During that run, guard Lee McCloud scored 16 points while forward Owen Jacobs added 13.
Overall, McCloud finished with a game-high 25 points on 8-of-13 shooting.
Prior to the Berry comeback, Sewanee played well. The Tigers made 46.7 percent of their attempts in the first half which helped Sewanee lead by nine, 30-21, at halftime.
During the early success, Keshonn Carter had eight points and four rebounds. Carter would eventually finish with a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double.
Fellow forward Seth Brown added 10 points while freshman Jorden Williams and junior Marcellus Caldwell each pitched in eight.
Sewanee opened the second half by outscoring the Vikings, 14-10. In fact, prior to a pair of Jacobs free throws with 12:01 remaining, Sewanee made six of its first 10 attempts.
Unfortunately, the Tigers cooled off from there. Sewanee finished the second half with a 39.3 field goal percentage. Berry took advantage of the Tigers' misfortune by shooting 48.3 percent after the opening 20 minutes.
After rare back-to-back home losses, Sewanee will look to rebound with a 3:00 p.m. contest against Oglethorpe Sunday.
