Two first-half goals push Rhodes past Sewanee

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Oct. 17, 2014) – A pair of first-half goals pushed Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Rhodes past the Sewanee men's soccer team 2-1, Friday, at the Rhodes Soccer Complex.

The Lynx netted goals by Paul Burdette and Matt McKeand in the opening 45 minutes of play.

Early in the second half, Sewanee fought back. Senior Ford Emerson blasted home a goal in the 46th minute to cut the Tiger deficit to one.

Both teams stayed on the attack as Rhodes finished with 19 shots while Sewanee added 14 attempts.

Individually, Reed Dowdy led the offense with three shots. Walker Ueland, Teddy Benjamin, and Emerson each finished with two shots.

Sewanee returns to action with a 2:00 p.m. contest at Hendrix, Sunday.
