SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee scored twice in the opening 17 minutes and added a late goal to defeat Huntingdon, 3-0, Friday afternoon at Puett Field.

Thomas McGowan opened the scoring just 30 seconds into the match, collecting the rebound after Stokes McConnell hit the crossbar and finding the back of the net for an early 1-0 lead.

The Tigers continued to pressure the Hawks, as McGowan and Ian Cox each hit the post before Grayson White assisted Holden Patterson for the second goal in the 17th minute.

Sewanee continued to create chances throughout the first half, with McGowan hitting the crossbar again and Domenic Desmond striking the post. The Tigers outshot Huntingdon, 15-3, in the opening 45 minutes.

After a scoreless stretch in the second half, Sewanee added an insurance goal in the 85th minute when Kingsley Lavender connected with Luke Vincent, who finished past Huntingdon goalkeeper Julian Mancipe to secure the 3-0 victory.

The Tigers finished with a 23-5 advantage in shots and a 12-2 edge in corner kicks. Drew Monti recorded two saves to earn the shutout, while Mancipe made five saves for Huntingdon.

The Tigers return to conference play on Tuesday afternoon at Maryville with a 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT start.
