Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (April 14, 2013) – After earning its first Southern Athletic Association (SAA) series win of the season Saturday, the Sewanee baseball team dropped the final game of its three-game series to Oglethorpe Sunday at Montgomery Field.
The Stormy Petrels jumped on the Tigers for five runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back as they defeated Sewanee 14-3 to avoid the sweep.
Mike O'Neil was charged with loss on the mound for the Tigers. O'Neil lasted only one inning allowing five runs on six hits.
Blake Williams led the Tigers at the plate with two hits in three trips to the plate. Michael Walker, Allen Thigpen and Nate Barnett each picked up one hit. Walker, Thigpen and Barnett drove in one run apiece.
Sewanee's record falls to 10-20 on the season and 2-15 in SAA play.
The Tigers will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Knoxville, Tennessee to take on Johnson University in a doubleheader. The first game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
