Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (March 30, 2013) – The Sewanee men's lacrosse team quickly put away Southern Athletic Association (SAA) foe Millsaps, 16-1, Saturday at Harris Stadium.
After honoring the Tigers' seniors prior to the match, Sewanee came out of the gate fast. The Tigers scored three goals in the first period behind two goals from Reed Daniel and one score from Davis Brown.
In the second period Sewanee pulled away from the Majors after Drew Lincoln, Joe Irby, Michael Morris, John Stiefel, and Daniel all found the back of the net.
Up by 10, 10-0, after halftime, Sewanee kept scoring in the third when Ian Gillan, Louis Cusano, and Pierce Leonard fired in three more shots.
Finally, Francis Teague, Lincoln, and Marty Johnson finalized the goals in the fourth period.
Overall, Sewanee outshot Millsaps, 55-17. Additionally, the Tigers grabbed 63 ground balls and forced 31 turnovers.
Finally, goalkeepers Tommy Healy, Sam LaBranche, Stephen Altizer, and Ed Haubenreiser combined for six saves.
Sewanee, winners of five straight matches, will look to extend its winning streak to six when the Tigers travel to Berry for a 1:00 p.m. EST contest April 6.
