Box Score DANVILLE, Ky. (Nov. 9, 2013) – Two first-half goals helped Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Rhodes to a 3-0 victory over the Sewanee field hockey team, Saturday.
The Tigers ended their season with an 8-8 overall record. That record is the best finish by a Sewanee team since the Tigers went 14-7 in 2008.
The Lynx opened with first-half goals by Julie Hertzman and an own score by Sewanee.
Rhodes then added one late insurance goal as Mackenzie Busby pushed in her shot in the 67th minute.
Overall, Rhodes outshot Sewanee 25-5. The Lynx also finished with a 14-3 advantage in corners.
Individually, freshman goalkeeper Gabrielle Fignar finished with 15 saves. That was the second most single-match saves in her career.
Saturday also marked the final contest for seniors Caroline Williams, Tilden Davis, Mary Kate McAlister, and Karen Dawson.
